I haven't taken the new bike out for a ride yet. Maybe Monday... But it looks so cool! When I was a kid, I got a purple metallic 5-speed. It had a matching banana seat, and butterfly handlebars. It was so cool! And it made me feel like an adult. It was what all the 'older' kids were 'driving'. I was in 4th grade. My spiritual Teacher would tell me it was a rite of passage. To me, it was AWESOME!

In 2002, when I moved into DC, I gave up my car. There have been times when it has been frustrating. But, I am so much happier! Driving was a stressful necessary evil for me. Being able to walk to everything! The first week here, we walked to and from a movie, during the week! WOW! Then I learned to use the bus system and it opened new, albeit time-using, ways to get farther. Now, I can build up my strength again, and when my body allows (it better allow a lot!), I can wander at will again. How wonderful!

Today, I'm off to see Ponyo with Reflections, with supper and discussion after. Should be good stuff.

Yesterday was a quick trip out to Takoma. Teh Kittehs needed food for next week, I had a $ off coupon from my birthday to a store out there, and so it happened. I'll be going out to Takoma a bit more often, as the August hiatus on events at Blue Lotus Treasures is over. My first time back is Saturday, September 5th, from 2-6pm. Come on out and see me!

Also, yesterday, I went to the Firefly DC Coffee Chat. It was interesting for me. Some networking, some chatting, some coffee.

Off to my day!

Bless you all!

I've not been posting lately. I know. It just is.

I'm doing ok.

The ruminations I mentioned so long ago are settling. Because it was around my 50th birthday, I was worried it might be a mid-life crisis. It is. But, I am THRILLED to be 50 years old!!! I have seen a half century!!! It is AMAZING to me! It is good!

Wellness-wise, NIH is out of the picture. And there is no diagnosis. This is hard. All the medication I'm taking is leaving me aching. Not pain exactly, but ache. I feel it deeper.

Spiritually, yesterday I had a seeing. They've been a bit few and far between since last year. I've been doing ok in my spiritual vocation of a medicant. Tho, I have this feeling I will be called on to do more.

Also yesterday, I did a barter and got a new bike out of the deal! It is more me now. It is a beige, one-speed, coaster brake bike. I, also, got a quick release, white basket for it. I thought the black basket was a touch to racy for a 50 year old. *lol*

And, hopefully, this entry gets me LJing again. I've missed it. FB is just feeding the soundbite world I hate coming.

Today, I must go to Takoma and get some cat food, or they turn on us on Monday. This afternoon, I hope to join a Pagan caffe chat near ChinaBlock.

Blessings all!

I still do exist. That existence is in the state of rumination. Usually, I ruminate around my birthday. But, I seem to have started early. I believe it is because I turn 50 this year, and there is a half century to ruminate over.

Updates soon. About me, wellness, and other life changes.

May the God/dess/es bless us without measure, and we understand the blessings.

The catch-up
Powwah

Bless us.

Things have been going along ok recently. *knock wood* It seems slow in my mind, but hasn't been.

Friday was full of meetings, with (someone else's) ragefire thrown in. I was one worn out Eri that evening.

Saturday, I read Tarot up at Blue Lotus Treasures. It was followed up by a lovely evening of fabulous cheap Chinese, the Harmony Cafe in Georgetown. Followed by browsing Barnes and Noble, and wandering the area in the wonderful weather that evening

Sunday's Connect DC ritual was fabulous! It was a celebration of summer! Playfulness, with some imagination, whimsey, and fun. Just what the God/dess/es ordered. 'London Bridge Is Falling Down' for the grounding, we danced the 'Hokey Pokey', nursery rhymes for the directions, Coyote and Hotei (the Laughing Buddha) were invoked. Then, I lead a laughing meditation which had us all in stitches in no time. Next, katrinas_joy, invoked Coyote in a dancing throw-down. We made a chocolate kiss of fabulous energy and gave it to the world, and licked the bowl clean! We gathered up our circle. After the ritual, we hung out together having a wonderful time over food. It was the perfect day!

So perfect, in fact, I went with a friend to Artomatic for a couple of hours after. A lovely time! Which was followed by having supper with a friend and wandering Dupont Circle for a couple of hours.

It wasn't a bad weekend.

Monday found me starting to organize my days again. I had a fabulous system before I had these health issues, and I cobbled stuff to keep fulfilling appointments and such, but, I really need an overall. katrinas_joy showed me some work she has been involved in with David Seah about day balancing. I'm tweaking it a bit for me, but I feel it's a pretty good fit. You should check it out.

Today is laundry day, and a ritual in the evening. I'm looking forward to today. Tomorrow is supposed to be some medical testing, but I haven't gotten my usual confirmation letter. I must check into that.

Remember, I can be found on Eridanus Darryl Kummerow on FaceBook. You can access my Tarot card a day on Eridanus Darryl Kummerow: Spiritual Intuitive, Tarot Consultant on FaceBook or at my website: Treptower Keys, which includes my poetry and commentary, and is also available by rss feed into your Live Journal at http://syndicated.livejournal.com/treptower_keys/

I remember in the early 90s, I fought about getting festooned in electronics. I lost. *lol*

I see it has been 5 days since my last update. No forgiveness required for me.

The cosmos seems off to me.

In other news, a cousin has gotten in contact with me, and she'll be moving into the area around September or after. I'll be introducing her around sometime after that. And a friend from college and his wife (and possibly children) MIGHT drive by and have dinner with me next week. Their idea of a vacation is to drive. Somewhere. It may be here.

Did I mention the cosmos seems off to me?

I am still bamboozled by the flow of time (based on days), and the pain is slowly racheting up. I find out in July what the next tests are. I've never been an easy person to decipher...

Does the cosmos seem off to you?

Somehow, I have filled my dance card (lots of appointments) for the weekend. It happens.

And the cosmos does seem off...

This week's catch-up
Powwah
seer_eridanus
Bless us.

It has been something of a stressful week. In mine own inimitable way, I'll be retelling the adventures.

On Saturday, June 6th, I attended the Washington DC Tarot Society meeting. That sounds so formal. Because we got together around 12.30pm, in the Hamburger Hamlet in the Crystal City Underground, started visiting & talking about each others' decks, ordered lunch, visited & talked through eating, have a FABOO presentation [this one was Tantra and Tarot] and then Tarot shared/visited & talked. Then, when our reservation ends (around 4pm) we wander down to the Starbucks to continue our Tarot share/visit & talk til around 6pm. I so love it!

From there, I met up with my friend A, over at Pentagon City [next Metro stop over]. He was returning something. I got there before him and wandered Williams and Sonoma, which was a calm place in the storm. MAN! Was that mall packed with loud, obnoxious people! We returned the item, and we left the mall for supper at some Irish place. It was ok, good, but no great shakes.

And off to Artomatic. It was nice to be with someone who likes art too. My last visit was somewhat hurried because the person I was with wasn't that enthused about art. We did three plus floors (out of 7 floors).

Sunday started off with me exchanging wet cat food. The picky kittehs didn't like the haute cuisine we brought (HORRORS! It had pieces to chew). So, back to minced wet food. Which we mix with water because Grim won't drink water, and now Valen isn't either because of the the water we mix into their wet food. However, urination is up! Perhaps something not so ill-suggested...

Tigre came down for an afternoon visit. And duly we did get supper. With A, who also came to visit over the meal. Cool.

Tigre and I went off to the Nomadic Full Moon Drum Circle. I had a lovely time! I'm usually not enthused about fire and drum circles. For me, people keep drumming their negative stuff into the fire, and don't take back the transformed energy. Which means there is lots of transformed (in whatever way) energy floating/flowing/pounding on my being like a tsunami on my being. this was different as it was not a specific Pagan/magickal drum circle. There was magick being done, but mostly by people who have a clue. I really enjoyed myself.

Monday is something of a blur

Tuesday was the Capital Pride 2009 InterFaith Service. Tigre again came down, we had supper, and he drove us the 9 blocks to the church it was in. Boy! Did it rain there for a while! He drummed, and I had a speaking part.

Rev. Darlene Nipper, and outloud Buddhist, was the featured speaker. Her message was about love. All things are possible with love. Things are very limited with tolerance, and don't go into hate! After her speech, for the first time, we were invited to reflect on what we heard and share it with someone during the reflection. As I wrote on my FaceBook page: "Rev. Bob [Holum, retired: Luther Place Church] and I were talking about the Capital Pride InterFaith sermon/speech, during the reflection, yesterday. To love all was the message, and we felt our shortcomings. It was hard to hear. As humans, in a[n] rational/OBJECTIVE only taught society: we are flawed. Reminded of love all, we agreed continue to overcome them, and have grace for ourselves, each other, everyone in the church, and the Universe. Love all!" I am a judgmental curmudgeon. Add to that I was brought up in a society which judges everything, and which teaches, imposes, and instills it in its members. Damn! It's even in my subconscious! GAH!

The service was lovely! And the reception after allowed me to renew some friendships. It was no longer raining either.

Wednesday, I went to NIH for another consultation. They want to do more testing. There isn't any other response here. Oh yeah, I found out I did my taxes wrong, too...

I had lunch with myly_blue_roses on Thursday. I really love these lunches! It was a wonderful visit. Prior to lunch, I went and picked up my wrist splints for my carpal tunnel. Yay me. *said sarcastically* I took a caffe break, during the afternoon, because I deserved it. Then, I called the IRS. They walked me through it and it should be fine. *hope, pray, fingers and toes crossed*

Today, I'm doing for me! I'm cleaning my room, doing some laundry, cleaning the carpet spots (Valen eats too much, then moves), and being kind to myself.

Saturday, I'm reading up at Blue Lotus Treasures from 12 to 6pm. Look at the new website! Come visit me! Come Shop! Afterwards, I'm off to Artomatic's 'Meet the Artists' evening. I have some artists to meet! Come on out from 7-9pm. Artomatic is on top of the Navy Yard Metro station (exit to Nats Ballpark).

Sorry this got so long. But I don't feel like doing cuts. Get over it.

Blessings on everyone!

Catch-up
Powwah
seer_eridanus
Bless us.

This week has been ok so far. I did some laundry. Hung a piece of artwork in the salon. Went to Dover DE on Wednesday.

Wednesday was fun! I went with my friend A, who had some meetings there. We arrived about an hour early, so we went to the visitor's center and the Biggs Art Center.

Besides being in my element of furniture, in the Biggs, they had an alabaster display. An artist from Italy came over, and taught alabaster carving in three schools. His city donated the alabaster, and the results were on display. You could touch them! It was glorious!

From there, A went to a meeting. I went to the Museum of Small Town Life. Since there was just another woman and I, the docent let us behind the velvet ropes on some of the exhibits. Most were about the turn of the century- the 19th to the 20th. Since I've been immersed in Victorian and 1920's cozy mysteries lately, I was in the 7th heaven!
-First up was a general store with postal office. I wish we had more of them now [I will not go into a rant!]. For me, it is about having a pantry full of food I'm not actually eating, while not having on hand the foods I'm usually eating. It's not about the bakery shelf having goods I use every week or two. More about having stuff we've thought about using, but don't. *sigh* I need ot fix this.
-Next up was the pharmacy. The shelves full of basic ingredient chemicals, to be mixed and medicine created for people. Along with some examples of tonics for liver and female problems, and dyspepsia. And, and, and. So many different things which dealt with so many different and unrelated issues. I mentioned how easy we have it now, because there is a lot more supervision today. It may be imperfect, but it's better than then.
-There was an entire print shop! And the docent showed us all the different fonts, explained how to print a page, and ran one of the printers for us to see. It was cool!
-There was a special exhibit on storage. Stoneware crocks, bottles and jars, and tin cans. With a history of there production and uses in Delaware. They mentioned you could preserve fruit in stoneware crocks without sugar. I may want to look that up, and, eventually, maybe, sometime, maybe, eventually, try it.
The whole museum was great! Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, Delaware is closing this museum, the Archaeological museum next door, and making the Victrola museum by appointment, for groups only, at the end of the month. I hope not!

Met up with A, and we went to Bell, Book, & Candle. It was great to see the shop again! And visit with I and D! There was much talk of Farmtown (an application on Facebook that D, A, and me are addicted to). Shopping happened. Cool things were shown. Lunch together was lovely! I had an conversation with I. Eventually, good things must end.

And we got on the road back to DC. Where I had a bit of supper, watched a little tv, and went to bed early.

Today is lunch with the ever lovely myly_blue_roses, with two doctor appointments and various errands to run. It was stormy last night, and now it is 20 degrees cooler and rainy. I'm a bit stiff and sore from it.

Have a wonderful day! Blessings!

An update of sorts
Powwah
seer_eridanus
Bless us.

So much going on and not much to show for it. Yea, me!

My calendar has been full of appointments and to-dos. And I have been appointing and to-doing!. It was good to organize some stuff in my head, and a little on my website: Treptower Keys. In the physical world, not so much.

I did some more medical testing last week. It's left me sorer than usual. And I want so much to see all of Artomatic! NOW! Not going to happen. [I have til July 4th.]

Otherwise, lots of errands, and writing to myself notes to not forget things which I've forgotten the notes. I did organize the Crackberry. Tho, it's not syncing the calendars or the contacts again. Not sure what to do. Then again, it never sync'ed the stuff off the Crackberry to iCal ever.

Note on organizing: I need to have day, week, and month to-do templates. I'm, slightly, losing my mind, and now I have things which need to be done-
-Daily Tarot card pulls for Treptower Keys, and my Facebook page.
-Pills, yet again.
-Putting the yet created monthly planning schedule, each month, into the Crackberry (28th: program month into Crackberry ; 25th: put up Blue Lotus Treasures dates on FB and Treptower Keys; pay bills on the 6th; etc.)
-Weekly appointments; and
-Daily schedule

I realize I've done this before; however, it needs to be re-done to fit in my Crackberry and shoulder bag. Anything else will fry me- body, mind, and soul! And I cannot figure out a good way for a note jotting pad I like!

*sigh*

Today, I plan on taking some time out for myself. Meaning... maybe lunch out and a run to the library (I'm hooked on the following authors and their series: Amanda Quick: the Arcane Society [I will be heading into her Harmony series soon]; Kerry Greenwood: Phryne Fisher & Corrina Chapman series; and, Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity series.

But...

I need to get a heavy weight art hanging hook for the Tarot salon, the kittehs need food for tonight and longer, my room needs excavating, I need to get the items to create my consultancy's advertising card holder/hangers for the community boards in the caffe houses, etc. around here, etc., so forth, and furtheron!

*sigh*

It's all good, if a little daunting. I keep breaking into smaller pieces to make it easier to do. And I have a list of items which will make life easier. Maybe I should register it around? *smile*

Life is full, busy, and doing ok. I'm taking a day trip to Dover on Wednesday. It'll be a nice drive, and new places to see.

Have a better day! Blessings!

Grim is ok. He doesn't drink enough water. Which, in turn, irritated his bladder lining. Making him hold his urine to, sometimes, too late.

Both cats diets are changing to 3/4 of a 3 oz can of wet, twice a day. Grim's will have extra water in it. Valen is thrilled!!!

In other news, Grim weighs over 12 lbs. Still working that diet.

I've fixed the cellfone issues with my aunt (& dad). I'm getting them a fone, programming it, and sending it to them. They are sending a check. Within two weeks. Because that's when they will be off traveling.

Now @ Blue Lotus Treasures, reading Tarot. Come by & see me.

Grim urinated on my bed sometime last evening. He has had instances, here and there, of urinating not in his boxes. They are about 3-4 weeks apart. However, urinating on my bed was never in the mix before.

Grim left for the cat doctor at 9am. Hopefully, it is just a urinary tract infection. I can get pills down a cats throat. This is, however, the first time in over a year, he has gone to the office. We have a reasonable home-visiting vet. He is seeing that vet.

Valen is weirded out by being the only cat in the house. If he is not clinging to me, he is being very talkative in the hall.

There we are. A report later, as I am reading Tarot today, at Blue Lotus Treasures, from noon-6pm. Look at the new website, come to the store, see and visit me, and shop on this lovely day!

I love the Maryland Faerie Festival. I really do enjoy working the festival in an artist's tent. Tho, I think I got a taste for having a tent just to do readings in!

Usually, I attend with the lovely mythandwonder. However, *HARRRUMPH!!!!*, she scheduled her elopement for the same weekend! Can you believed that?!? [see note below] Anyway, I found another artist to hang out with there:

Elspeth of Haven, with Nybor's Art, and both of us doing Tarot readings.

How we got there...and what we did on Friday eveningCollapse )

Saturday, things that make you go hmmm...Collapse )

Sunday was a bit blustery, but fun!Collapse )

I love the Maryland Faerie Festival! I must keep going. I love the entertainment, the arts and crafts, the bands and the music- KIVA and Scott Helland! AND, especially, the fabulous costumes!!! I'm gonna need some for next year! And you all must join me there!

Kubiando! And Well Done! My thanks to the people who did all of this, so I could be there. Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU! (3 times makes it official)

Today is a bit of a let down: I have to run a couple of errands, unpack and put the duffles away (they panic the cats), and rest and recover.

NOTE: I am very glad mythandwonder and her schweetie are married! I just had to poke her.

Blessings All!!!
